Public Notice – Little Colorado River Tribal Park Closure Due to Excessive Heat

Little Colorado River Tribal Park

This message serves as an official public notice that Little Colorado River Tribal Park is temporarily closed due to ongoing excessive heat conditions impacting the region. The safety of visitors, local community members, and staff remains our highest priority.

During this closure period, no hiking permits will be issued. This includes all access permits for Salt Trail, Little Colorado River Overlook, and any related hiking areas within the Little Colorado River Tribal Park boundary. Permit distribution will remain suspended until further notice and will resume once conditions have improved and it is safe to reopen the area.

We kindly ask for your assistance in informing community members, visitors, and any relevant partners about this temporary closure and the suspended permit process.

If additional information or clarification is needed, please contact our office at (928) 679‑2303.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support in keeping our community safe.
